About Us

BTA International GmbH is the leading specialist for the wet-mechanical pretreatment and digestion of all types of organic waste containing contaminants.

Thanks to highly efficient contaminant removal, BTA® Pulper and GRS produce a clean suspension for the subsequent wet digestion. At the end of the BTA® process, biogas, digestate and separated impurities can be put to further use.

Already in the early 1980s, our founders were concerned about the effects of the then common waste disposal, the devastating consequences for the environment and the waste of resources. With the conviction that environmentally friendly recycling was possible, they set out to develop the best technology for processing organic waste.

55+ successful projects later, we are still working with the same conviction and the same aspiration to develop and implement first-class technical solutions. In the Meantime the Bavarian company with the somewhat unwieldy name "Biotechnische Abfallverwertung GmbH & Co. KG" has also become an international recognised player with references in Germany over Canada to Australia. A corresponding range of cultural backgrounds also characterises our team of biologists, chemists, engineers and business economists, among others.

Agraferm GmbH, based in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, emerged in 2017 from Agraferm Technologies AG, which was founded in 2004 by a team of biogas experts. In 2007, to expand its range, Agraferm aquired a stake in BTA International GmbH, the specialist for the wet mechanical pre-treatment of organic waste and has held a strategic majority since 2014. In 2017 Agraferm became the sole owner of BTA by aquiring all outstanding shares.

With this experience and our comprehensive range from planning, installation and commissioning, up to after sales, maintenance and operation of plants we have been developing tailor-made solutions for individual customer requirements in waste treatment and digestion for 40 years now.
