An example of anaerobic digestion in combination with biofuel production
This AD plant was built by Agraferm in Sered’, a town in southwest Slovakia, on the site of a former nickel works.
The site is now used for the production of bio-diesel and the resulting by-product glycerin is used as a feedstock for the AD plant.
Furthermore, sugar beet pulp from sugar production is also used as well as rapeseed cake and maize silage. The heat from the CHP is in turn used for the bio-diesel production.
